Huawei Watch GT 3 Hands-On: Sporty & Elegant - Android Headlines

The Huawei Watch GT 3 arrived to the office yesterday. I’ve been using the device for approximately 24 hours before I wrote this article, so that I can form some sort of an opinion. This is essentially the Huawei Watch GT 3 hands-on aka first impressions article.

The Huawei Watch GT 3 hands-on with first impressions

The Huawei Watch GT 3 is a direct successor to the Watch GT 2, which was quite popular for the company. That was did arrive almost two years ago, so it was time for a direct successor to land. This watch actually resembles the GT 2 quite a bit, but it brings a number of improvements to the table.

So, first and foremost, this watch comes with Harmony OS out of the box. On top of that, its display is far more responsive, while it’s also nicer overall, the colors seem to be better.

The design didn’t change all that much, aside from the side buttons. Instead of having two mushroom-shaped buttons, Huawei opted for one such button that doubles as a rotating crown, and one button that is far flatter.

This is the first GT series smartwatch that offers a rotating crown. It is considerably different than the one on the Huawei Watch 3, it feels more robust, and it fits this design perfectly.

The watch came with a silicone band that I’ve used already, on one of the company’s previous watches. That band is nothing to write home about, but it’s comfortable, and it will fit both small and large wrists. The watch is also quite comfortable to wear, it’s not too heavy, nor too light.

The software has been improved as well, it seems

I have to say that I enjoyed using its software quite a bit, thus far. The display is far more responsive, and the rotating crown only enhances the experience. Huawei also improved the look of notification cards, which is something I’ve been waiting for a long time. Though we’ll talk more about that in the full review.

The haptic feedback of the watch is excellent, it’s quite strong, but you can decrease that if you want. The rotating crown also triggers vibrations as you scroll, and it does a great job with that.

This is a 46mm smartwatch, and you can essentially use any type of 22mm watch band. The watch itself feels excellent, I have to admit. My first impressions are really good, as Huawei did improve the watch where it matters compared to the GT 2. These are only my initial thoughts, though, we’ll see how it does after I put it through its paces.
