Cadillac only just got done unveiling the all-electric Lyriq and has already acknowledged the possibility of a V-Series variant.
During a recent interview following the launch of the Lyriq at the ongoing Shanghai Auto Show, Cadillac global vice president Rory Harvey admitted that the brand is “evaluating” a Lyriq V-Series model.
“If you looked at Cadillac in the past, having sporty variants has been part of our heritage… and that is something we’re looking at and evaluating moving forward,” he said.

There’s certainly room in the Lyriq range for a high-performance model. As standard, the SUV will be sold in the U.S. with a single electric motor good for 340 hp and 325 lb-ft (440 Nm) of torque. While those figures are more than ample for normal, everyday driving, you can rest assured that a number of customers will be asking for more power. Cadillac has acknowledged that it will soon expand the range with a dual-motor Performance model to help satisfy demand for a faster model, but it remains to be seen what form it will take.
Of course, the Lyriq has more going for it than just power. Cadillac has also confirmed it will launch with a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and should be able to travel more than 300 miles (483 km) on a single charge. It will also include 190 kW fast charging capability that will allow it to get up to 76 miles (122 km) of range in 10 minutes and up to 195 miles (314 km) in 30 minutes.
