For most BMW brand enthusiasts in North America, a FWD BMW is called a MINI. Even so, the German luxury car brand is no stranger to relying on the front wheels to drive a car and they are putting in the effort to make sure the new 128ti 5-door hatchback will be thrilling to drive.

While there is nothing inherently wrong with a FWD car, or BMW for that matter, engineers at BMW have decided to fit the 128ti with a front Torsen limited-slip differential for ultimate traction. The car has a specifically tuned M sport suspension that lowers the 128ti by 10mm. Steering is also revised for improved response. Not to be forgotten, M sport brakes are also included. Finally, more aggressive tires are optional.

The key to the 128ti is that it tips the scale at 80 fewer kilograms than the 135i xDrive which, with the improved chassis, means that it will be incredibly nimble and agile. The 128ti’s focus is on dynamic driving for a younger buyer.

The new BMW 128ti goes on sale in Europe in November of this year.
